It also plays an important role in fatty acid metabolism and in maintaining a healthy heart, immune and nervous system. Vegetarians and vegans may have an increased need for this vitamin, as it does not appear to be bio-available from vegetable sources and is primarily found in meat, eggs and dairy products.
