Description
Born 1903 in Koryčany, Czechia, Jindrich Halabala brought mass market production of furniture to Czechoslovakia. He grew up training to become a cabinetmaker at his father’s joinery workshop before entering the state-owned woodworking school in Valašské Meziříčí in 1920. Halabala’s designs drew from Czech cubism, Art Deco and classic European mid-century modern and included chairs, tables, sideboards, lamps and more. Due to his contribution to and excellence in furniture and interior design, the Czech Republic now host an annual award in his name.
Our pair of Jindrich Halabala armchairs were made during the 1940’s and have since been fully refurbished in a beautiful teal plush velvet. These items are rare and unique and are for purchase as a pair only. We have the chairs on display in our Parsons Green showroom in London if you wish to view prior to purchase.
