Many visitors to New York wish to visit the site where the September 11th 2001 attacks took place, to honour those who perished and also pay respect to those who helped out at the scene.

At the National September 11 Memorial Museum – known as the 9/11 Museum – youandrsquo;ll discover the full story of this fateful day through various artefacts, first-person accounts and multimedia displays.

Main Exhibitions at the 9/11 Museum:

The Historical Exhibition

This exhibition tells the story of the September 11th events, from the normality of a late summer day to the horrors of the attacks, with artefacts ranging from the monumental to the intimate.

Through images, videos and real-time audio recordings, youandrsquo;ll discover the background leading up to the events and what it felt like to actually be there.

The Memorial Exhibition

Named In Memoriam, this exhibition commemorates those whose lives were lost on September 11th 2001 and February 26th 1993. Here youandrsquo;ll learn more about the men, women and children who perished in the attacks, through family photographs, recorded memories and personal artefacts.

The Foundation Hall

In this enormous room youandrsquo;ll find the Slurry Wall – an original relic of the World Trade Center, and the Last Column, which is covered with mementos, memorial inscriptions and posters which were placed there by ironworkers, rescue workers and others.

Other exhibitions include:

Large artefacts which demonstrate the scale of the attacks
Remnants from the original World Trade Center construction
Recording booths in which visitors can add their own personal reflections to the Museum collection.

On the 2nd floor of the Museum pavilion, you can watch short films and live talks in the auditorium.

The 9/11 Memorial.

The names of 2,983 victims of the attacks at the World Trade Center site, at the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93, as well as the World Trade Center in 1993, are inscribed in bronze panels surrounding two enormous reflecting pools set in the footprints of the Twin Towers.
