Description
From the very good 1964 vintage, this Spanish fortified wine is 18.5% proof and scores 93/100 Parker points and “The NV Fondillón Gran Reserva 1964 is bottled from a solera started in 1964, which is fed with wine from old, dry-farmed, head-pruned Monastrell vines where the wine ages in large (up to 1,800-liter) Spanish oak barrels – for a very long time. It’s quite powerful and sweet, with 18.5% alcohol and 72 grams of residual sugar. It has a mahogany color with an amber, almost green border, and the nose made me think of a tawny port, with that mixture of hazelnuts, varnish, fruitcake and dried figs. The palate feels quite balanced, with pungent flavors of nuts, integrated sweetness and a long finish. You can drink the bottle slowly over weeks, as the wine will take time to fade and it could also be kept in the cellar. 3,000 bottles were filled in August 2013.” Drink now 2045. This Spanish port like red dessert wine is shipped in a silk lined wooden presentation box and now includes a free gift card with your personal message and tasting and storage notes.
